Rich & Velvety 15ct Albertina Chain
Where to start?
This rich and textured albertina hails from circa 1870, and would have been worn as a pocket watch chain by a - presumably rather fabulous - woman of the time.
This example is crafted from solid 15ct gold, of a sunset-toned, marigold-yellow hue. This considerably weighty 19g bracelet truly glows.
The chain itself can be worn as a bracelet with the tasseled-orb hanging, or as a necklace if you have a bracelet or chain extender to give it a little extra length.
The links are a chunky fancy-belcher style with a '15c' tag hallmark to one end, and this piece also sports a dog clasp, spiral detailed t-bar and a heavily ornate orb featuring granulation bead work and filigree detail. Nine woven tassels are suspended from the orb, with all but two finished with small gold beads.
This piece is offered in good antique condition: the only element of deficiency is to the tassels, which have multiple kinks, with two missing their beads to the tail. This does not detract from the overall beauty of this rare piece and is accurately depicted in photographs.
