Large 15ct Pearl Crescent
This 15ct crescent dates to C1900 and has a lovely shape to it, studded with lustrous pearls which graduate in size.
Antique crescent jewellery was popular in the mid-late Victorian period and symbolised new phases of life or relationships. The moon has long been a symbol of the feminine and so the symbolism can also relate to the power of womanhood.
The pearls are lustrous and vibrant, not perfectly matched though this lends itself to the intrigue of the piece as thankfully they blend together beautifully. There is at least one historic replacement pearl with minor glue, which you can only see through the loupe.
This piece has a stationary 9ct gold jump ring with interior diameter of 4mm, if you require this to be increased we can widen slightly at no extra charge. Please add your request to order notes and allow 2 weeks before dispatch.
