The 7.64ct green zircon has a haziness to it with a really interesting origin story. Zircons are the oldest gemstone we have on planet earth (the oldest ones formed as the earth did 4.4 billion years ago). The element which gives zircons their colour? Uranium (tiny, safe amounts). The oldest zircons have been exposed to their own trace amounts of uranium for so long that their crystal bonds start to misalign which gives this optical effect. In this stone that looks like a golden olive-green haze.

We've set this zircon in a heavy 18ct gold bezel setting with a brushed finish and added it to a chunky vintage snake chain (in mint condition). The pendant slides along the chain smoothly but does not come off.
