Remarkable Turquoise & White Enamel Antique 12ct Gold Pendant
Unless you're new to antique jewellery, you're probably used to pieces (usually quite rightly) being referred to as unique.
That being said, we've not seen a piece with turquoise dome and such intricate white enamelling before, so this one takes truly takes the title.
Converted by us from a brooch, a dome of pave turquoise cabochons are framed by a rope twist border. Scalloped gold work blooms from this central feature, adorned with pristine white enamel work. We date this piece to the high Victorian era, c.1870.
The turquoise beads have taken on different hues with ages, creating a very desirable range of colour. One bead (second row from centre) has been replaced seamlessly by our goldsmith with another antique turquoise cabochon.
To the reverse a removable glass panel houses an original-era swatch of blue silk with a single pressed flower encased within. This can be removed at the buyers request.
The metal electronically tests as 12ct gold.
This piece is in good antique condition - with some signs of wear. The single layer rope work framing the turqouise was previously two layers, only a quarter of this very small top layer remains - this can be seen in photos but is not visible when worn and does not detract from this piece. Enamel is in perfect condition.
This is a delicate and old pendant and with plenty of life to be worn and enjoyed accordingly. We would advise against immersing this pendant and recommend wear in situations where significant bumps and knocks can be avoided!
