Magnificent Pearl & 15ct Crescent Pendant
This one solicits a sharp intake of breath at first glance... followed by a lunar love affair and deep appreciation of the form of this heirloom quality piece.
Antique crescent jewellery was popular in the mid Victorian period and symbolised new phases of life or relationships. The moon has long been a symbol of the feminine and so the symbolism can also relate to the power of womanhood. Take your pick!
Either way, this extremely fine piece will not disappoint. Converted by us from a brooch to a pendant, the gold-work featuring spiralling cantinelle and granulation. Eleven lustrous pearls of graduating size run along the spine of this piece and the original craftmanship is evident throughout.
Offered in excellent antique condition with its original box (pictured) this piece is truly remarkable and ready to be enjoyed.
