Incredible 22ct 'North Star' Locket

£3,500 Sold out

Doesn’t get much better than this, folks. This large antique locket has been confidently crafted from 22ct yellow gold, and a whopping 24.48g of it at that (that’s WITH with the glass and base metal frame removed).

The locket is emblazoned with an eight rayed star, depicting the North Star, a popular motif at the time as a reminder of ones purpose and what guiding principles.

To the centre of the star sits a beautiful cornflour blue sapphire weighing approximately 2.3 carats which is natural and unheated - a marvel in itself - with the eight rays featuring split pearls (these will most likely be natural pearls) and rose cut diamonds.

The locket comes with frames and one glass panel which is very thin and we believe original to the piece.

Antique and dating to C1870, this celestial piece is truly timeless. Offered in excellent condition. There are no hallmarks, only a stock number scratched to the rear of the bale, but this piece has been XRF tested to confirm gold purity.

Materials: 22ct gold, natural and unheated sapphire, rose cut diamonds and pearl. Removable base metal components (frames) and glass.

Weight: without base metal components 24.48g, with base metal components 30.2g
