Exceptional Victorian Snake & Dog Clip Pendant

Here we have a perfect little snake, hoping to slither his way to your jewellery box. But don't worry! He's not in any way a burden, in fact he's here to help, as he comes complete with a dog clip suspended from his mouth from which you can dangle a further pendant or charm of your choice.

This piece started life as a brooch circa 1880, and we have had the pin and fittings expertly removed in order for him to be worn as a pendant. This can be achieved in one of two ways: a chain (or even ribbon) laced through the sides, or the fittings of a double albert hooked onto each side.

The snake itself is exceptionally detailed, down to the scales on his back and mouth full of teeth - the detail is mesmerising. There is a 9ct stamp to the underside, whilst the dog clip (likely a slightly later addition) is 15ct and separately stamped as such.

The 20" chain photographed can be purchased with this pendant at an additional cost of £70. It is 14ct with Moscow hallmarks and weighs 2g. Please indicate in your order notes if you would like the chain, and a separate invoice will be sent.

Offered in excellent antique condition, with the dog clip in perfect working order. A small amount of lead solder remains where the snakes mouth meets the dog clip, this is visible in the photographs but not when worn.
