The Piece London

Etruscan Revival Pendant with Rose Cut Diamond Star & Tassels

£525 Sold out

A fabulous pendant dating to circa 1880, featuring the hallmarks of mid-Victorian era goldwork: articulated tassels, granulation (small spheres of gold) and rope border.

The central star - likely a depiction of the North Star symbolising protection and guidance - is adorned with rose cut diamonds set into gold. The central stone strongly resembles garnet but is in fact red paste.

Unusually the tassels are all present and in excellent condition. The piece is modelled in 9ct gold which was 'dipped' in high carat gold at the time of making which was common practice at the time. The original gold colour shows through on the closed back of the pendant, photographed.

Offered in very good antique condition - perfect but for one ding to the reverse, not noticable when worn.
