Lively Old European Cut Diamond Solitaire Ring (0.40ct)

£535 Sold out

When a staple is done well it takes on an energy of its own, despite its simplicity, and this ring dating to the early 20th Century is a perfect example.

Crafted in 18ct gold, a 0.40 carat diamond of excellent colour has been bezel set - with very delicate barely-there claws for added security - in a platinum topped setting with milgrain detail border. The knife-edge shoulders of the ring, setting and diamond cut are typical of the Edwardian period.

The diamond has been cut with great skill and super attention to detail, resulting in sharp facets and a huge amount of brilliance and fire (meaning, it sparkles). The stone bears an impressive 'F' colour, which is colourless and makes this a desirable, valuable stone. You can learn more about diamond colour grading here.

We date this piece to the early 20th century, circa 1910.

Offered in very good antique condition, with minor nibbles to the facet edges commensurate with age.
