Antique 18ct Double Albert Chain

£8,500

Oh boy, is it hot in here? This 18ct antique watch chain dates to the early 1900s and is absolutely perfect, with lightly graduated links (it sits beautifully), three dog clasps and t-bar. All parts are original and stamped by the makers: E. Whitehouse & Son, as well as crown and '18' stamps to every link.

The gold is a rich true yellow and everything works as well as the day it was made. There is a date mark which is worn which I believe to be for the year 1901, which corresponds closely with when the makers were operational.

Currently 15.5" which for many is the sweet spot for albert chains, but if you did want it a bit longer we can remove the short chain and dog clasp from the centre and make into an extender, bringing the total length to 17.5". If you wanted to invest a little more into the piece, we could make a double ended extender with another antique dog clasp which would bring the total length up to 18.5" (there would be a small extra charge for this).

All in all a remarkable piece of jewellery history.
