Swallow & Branch Brooch Conversion on Vintage Chain
Hallmarked in Chester in 1906 this brooch features the classic motif of a swallow, representing the commitment of these fascinating birds who mate for life, returning to their original nesting place year on year.
Depicted flying among vines, the original intention for this piece could have been to symbolise desire of the safe return of a loved one.
It has been mounted onto a well-matched vintage chain, which is also hallmarked as 9ct gold. We love this as a long layer in a necklace stack or worn alone.
There is some moderate tarnishing to the gold underneath the swallow, pictured and not particularly visible when worn, which has been factored into the price.
