Fetter Link Watch Chain with Curb Extender
This piece has been carefully brought together to be a wearable necklace using various components and findings, the result is a well matched and textural piece at a very wearable 17.75" long.
Let's break it down!
T-bar: removable, date mark for Birmingham, 1925
Extender: Dog clasp and curb links, marker mark for Sydenham Brothers (active 1880-1915) & curb is stamped to every link.
Dog clasps: 1 swivels and we would date as vintage circa 1940-1960, the other does not swivel and is antique.
Fetter chain: harder to date - potentially true vintage rather than antique, one '9ct' stamp to one link and links have in the past been reinforced due to wear (not detectable to the naked eye) - C1950 but potentially older.
All in all a lovely piece, very well matched, and - thanks to past reinforcements - with decades of wear ahead of it.
Materials: 9ct rose gold, every individual element has been tested
Length: 17.75" worn length (not including t-bar)
Weight: 29.71g
Other dimensions: fetter links 5.2mm wide and 1.5mm thick, curb links 6.5mm wide and 3.5mm thick
