The Piece London
Unique Antique Opal Souvenir Pendant & Chain Extender
Picture the scene: it's 1890 and you're in Australia to visit a newly opened opal mine, inspired to learn more about this captivating gemstone after being inspired by Queen Victoria's ever-growing collection.
How best to remember your visit and regale your friends of your intrepid adventure? Well, it turns out the gift shops in a turn-of-the-century mining attraction were a lot more glam than nowadays, and you could have picked up a glass tube full of opal fragments, set in chunky 9ct gold.
Originally a brooch comprised of two tubes, this piece has been reimagined into two separate pieces, a pendant & a chain extender.
The pendant features darker toned opals - in bright hues of sea blue and green, beautifully complemented by the rose gold caps original to the piece. We have added an extra wide 6mm jump ring for versatility.
The chain extender is filled with pastel toned opals, still with a lively play of colour covering orange, green, lilac and blue tones. The generous jump rings have been added to either end to act as a chain extender.
